The
Mule Trek
7 day, 6 night Camping Adventure to Pico Duarte in Bermudez
National Park
Our local friend and guide Francisco Martinez has been
leading trips up the mountain since his childhood, as
did his father before him. Enjoying the ecological wonders
of Bermudez National Park, learning about the myths and
legends of these hidden mountain ranges around the campfire
and experiencing the Dominican culture make a trip up
Pico Duarte an unforgettable family pilgrimage. You will
be adventuring far away from cities and civilization,
so this trip is best suited for families who are accustomed
to camping and the outdoors.
Trip Details:

Day 1:
Arrive in La Ciénaga de Manabao from Cabarete.
Play baseball with the local kids and the enjoy a family
fiesta with Francisco, Ciele and their family of nine.

Day 2:
Pack mules,hike and ride to Valle Tetero through the
bamboo forest. Swim in the river along the way.

Day 3:
Spend the day in Valle Tetero looking for Taino Indian
petroglyphs, swimming in the rivers and playing ball
in the many open fields.

Day 4:
Climb from Valle Tetero to La Comparticion passing Aguita
Fria, which is the sorce of the River Yaque South and
North, the two longest rivers in the country.

Day 5:
Climb to the summit of Pico Duarte. Have a picnic lunch
on top and head back down to La Comparticion.

Day 6:
Make your way back from La Comparticion to La Ciénaga
de Manabao and finally to Jarabacoa. Enjoy a hot shower
and a farewell dinner in a local hotel.

Day 7:
Visit the Jimenoa Waterfall after breakfast and head
back to Cabarete in time for lunch.

Beaches and Waterfalls
An 8 day North Coast Adventure
Time for a real life adventure! Discover the miracles of
nature, search for treasures of the past and experience
Dominican culture. This is an action packed vacation designed
for the pace of a family with kids of all ages. You will
explore the diverse landscape and culture along the entire
200 miles of the North Coast while staying in family friendly
accommodations.
Trip Details:

Day 1:
Bus from Cabarete to Monte Cristi. Take a boat trip through
the National park out to Isla Cabrita. Snorkel and relax.
Hike to the top of Mount Moro 900ft for the sunset.

Day 2:
Monte Cristi. Boat trip out to the pirate islands Siete
Hermanas. Fish, snorkel and explore these uninhabited
islands. In the evening we look for Taino artifacts in
an ancient Indian garbage site.

Day 3:
La Isabelle, Imbert, Puerto Plata. Trace Columbus' first
footsteps in la Isabelle which was the first settlement
of the new world. Spend the afternoon cascading waterfalls
in Imbert, then visit to the fort of San Felippe on the
waterfront in Puerto Plata.

Day 4:
Puerto Plata to Rio San Juan. Visit a local Dominican
family in the foothills of Rio San Juan, swim and body
surf at Playa Grande,explore in a nature park and relax
on a sunset boat ride through the famous GriGri lagoon.

Day 5:
The Samana Peninsula. Visit Los Haitises National park
(or Whale Watch January through March.

Day 6 & 7:
Las Galeras. This is the end of the Samana peninsula.
Spend 2 full days visiting the most pristine beaches and
rivers in the country. Hike, snorkel and horseback ride,
with scuba diving options available. Fish with local fishermen
and eat the catch for dinner.

Day 8:
Return to Cabarete after breakfast in time for lunch.
