Michael and Sarah moved to the Dominican Republic with their two young daughters in 2006 to follow their dream of running an eco-friendly adventure tour business. Originally from Brighton - England, Mike worked as a successful photographer and Sarah designed and welded contemporary metal furniture. The couple have built on the foundations laid for them at Iguana Mama, applying their unique passion and style to the business, taking it from strength to strength.

When not spending time with the family, Mike loves to get up at sunrise for a surf or to catch the wind in the afternoon for a kitesurfing session. Sarah has a great passion for art, design and cuisine - she can often be found in the midst of whipping up a culinary masterpiece or generally creating something beautiful. Sarah also loves to keep fit with spinning and pilates in between being an all round super mum!

Leo is one of the most friendly guys you will ever meet. Loud, fun, flamboyant and full of charisma, there is not a negative bone in the "big man's" body. Leo is a family man, born in the Dominican Republic where he has lived all his life.

Leo has worked with Iguana Mama since 2005 and has become part of the life and soul of the business. If you're passing the shop, make sure you come and say hi to this great guy!


Carlos was born and bread in the DR, this is clearly demonstrated in the passion and knowledge he has for the natural environment and the people of his country. A truly brilliant guide, the amount of glowing feedback we get for Carlos is overwhelming.

As well as being an invaluable asset to our team, Carlos is a family man and a passionate and skilled mountain biker. He can often be found blazing trails accross the dominican country side - leaving everyone else for dust!


Orlando has been with Iguana Mama for 10 years and has an excellent knowledge of all things Iguana. Orlando is a great guide and incredibly knowledgable about the Dominican Republic.

Orlando is a passionate (and FAST) cyclist, his level of fitness is outstanding. An incredibly gifted surfer, Orlando can often be found ripping the local surf break, Encuentro, to shreds in competitions throughout the year.


Roque joined the Iguana Mama team in 2007 as an apprentice mechanic and guide. Since joining us he has grown in knowledge and stature and has become valuable member of the team.

Always friendly and helpful, Roque injects an extra dose of energy and fun into our great team.
Originally from a traditional farming heritage in the mountains, alex has Dominican nature coursing through his veins. A passionate horseman and outdoor enthusiast, Alex has all the right ingredients for his key role in the Iguana Mama team. A natural beach-lover, an outstanding waterman and happy-go-lucky by nature, Franklin is fun, enthusiastic and a great asset to the team. As Cabarete's beach volleyball champion, Franklin keeps fit and is a knowledgable and great fun guide.
