Waterfall Tours :: Rappeller's Delight

Tour Runs: Fri

Canyoning differs to cascading in that it involves rappelling and is therefore slightly more technical and a little slower paced. Rappeller's Delight offers the best of both worlds as it combines two tours. Starting off with 6 rappels which are normally dry unless we've had a lot of rain, we then join the main river for part of the Cigupa Falls section. Here you'll leap off a series of waterfalls as you immerse yourself in a Dominican wilderness discovered by only the most intrepid tourists.

We start the day meeting our guide at Iguana Mama 7.45am before picking up breakfast to eat while enjoying the spectacular views as we wend our way up the 45 minutes to base camp. This is where we meet the other guides and get you geared up in wetsuit, harness, helmet and life preserver. A quick safety briefing is followed by 5 more minutes van time before we hike down into the canyon for the first part of the trip. If you enjoy rappelling this is the trip for you as we make 6 descents before joinning the main river for the second part of the tour which is Ciguapa Falls. Feel the cool water hit you as you leap into the river for the first of around 8 jumps up to heights of 30 feet or 10 meters. Around an hour later you'll emrge form the river amazed at what you just acheived and phsyched for hike out. 20 minutes steep climb to the donkey meeting point and a further 20 minutes taking in the sights and smells of the incredible landscape around you. Stoked and hungry we stop for a delicous Dominican lunch to relive the trip before dropping you back in Cabarete at around 3.00pm.

Highly recomended! Help the community and your legs by hiring a donkey for the hike out (approx. 45 minutes uphill) They cost US$10.00 per donkey and all proceeds go directly to the donkey's owner.

Our guides are trained and certified by the West Coast Canyoneering Method
